Kingdom-Minded

As Christians, we often talk about the fact that we are spirit beings.  Simply put, the Spirit of God living in us informs our intellect and our intellect informs our actions.  For several years, I have preached this message to people and have done my best to live it out in my personal life.  Unfortunately, we do not live in a bubble and the enemy is real. I think we fail ourselves when we don’t consider the world we live in and how it informs our intellect, just as the Spirit informs our intellect.  In essence, our intellect, or the way we think, is being informed or stimulated by two different factors:

  1. The things of God that are born of the Spirit

  2. The things of the world that are born of the enemy.

This is why the Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

I have found that renewing our minds in the way the Paul is suggesting is best accomplished when we are able stay kingdom-minded.  The Book of John 18:36 tells us“My kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my kingdom is not of this world.”  When the enemy is at work in the world around us, we must remember that we are not of this world and there is still a God in Heaven who saves, delivers and heals. When we consistently allow the Spirit within us to shape our lives, rather than the world around us, we can overcome.

Remember that Satan is a liar!  The Bible calls him the father of all lies.  On the contrary, Jesus tells us in John 14:6 “The way, The Truth and The Life”
